My New Research: Benchmarking AI Creativity in Minecraft

2024: The Year of Imaginix

This year was all about Imaginix. and the two products that defined our journey: CollegeBot AI and Kimi AI.

CollegeBot is our current product, born from the lessons and setbacks of Kimi AI. Building on that experience, my partners and I took a more focused approach, targeting California’s under-resourced community colleges—a niche we believe can truly benefit from our work. While Kimi AI’s closure pushed us to the brink of giving up, we encouraged each other through countless sleepless nights, driven by the belief that we couldn’t let down the investors who trusted us, nor our own dreams. This persistence, coupled with past experience, paid off—CollegeBot now boasts stronger user retention and engagement, and we are committed to refining it further to better support students and their unique challenges.

Here’s Kimi AI, one of our early projects. Click the flashlight icon to access the App Store download page. Sadly, updates ended in July 2024, but it remains a key milestone in our journey.

Kimi AI was my first project as a co-founder, where my two partners and I invested over a thousand hours learning product development, market analysis, and competitor research. Our efforts led to acceptance into Harvard's Innovation Lab and Beta University's accelerator, and we secured angel funding. However, despite these achievements, the project ultimately concluded due to intense competition. The experience, though challenging, provided invaluable entrepreneurial insights and a strong foundation for future ventures.

2023: The Year of Mathos and ShakeLink

In 2023, when I was working on MathGPTPro (now called Mathos), I had my first experience in the Bay Area’s vibrant startup ecosystem. It was my first time in an entrepreneurial environment, and I was captivated by its energy and creativity.

In 2023, I joined my first startup, ShakeLink, a Web3 platform inspired by Linktree. It focused on enhancing campus social interactions and networking for university students. The project failed, but the journey continued.

2022: The Year to UVA

In the fall of 2021, as a first-generation college student, I arrived at the University of Virginia, settling in Charlottesville—a serene and beautiful place full of peace. Here, I am deeply grateful to have met so many brilliant professors and peers who have guided me as I pursue my dreams. Studying Computer Science in the School of Engineering, I’ve come to see UVA as the starting point of my aspirations and a foundation for everything I hope to achieve.
